Is OffPDF really free?

Yes. OffPDF is completely free and open source under the MIT license. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no feature paywall — every tool is included.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. OffPDF processes every file locally on your own computer. Your documents are read and written straight from disk and never touch a server, so nothing is ever uploaded or stored in the cloud.

Does OffPDF work offline?

Yes. Once installed the desktop app needs no internet connection at all. You can merge, split, compress, OCR and convert PDFs on a plane or on an air-gapped machine.

Which platforms does OffPDF support?

OffPDF runs on Windows 10 and 11 (x64) and on macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon). A Linux AppImage build is on the way.

What PDF tools are included?

OffPDF bundles 18 tools: merge, split, compress, organize pages, OCR, Office conversion both ways, PDF to images, watermark, page numbers, crop, stamp & sign, poster/tile, compare, password protect with AES-256, unlock, PDF/A and repair.

Do I need an account to use OffPDF?

No account, no sign-up and no tracking. There is no telemetry or analytics in the app — you download it once and it simply does the job.

Can I use OffPDF without installing anything?

Yes. The free online tools at offpdf.com/tools let you merge, split, compress, crop and extract pages right in your browser — still processed on your device, never uploaded. For OCR, Office conversion and encryption, install the desktop app.
